Discovery of mathematical knowledge by reformulation of false conjectures in an proofs and refutations environment
Abstract
This paper exposes the results of a study carried out to future secondary school teachers. We present how the students discovered mathematical knowledge from a false conjecture, which was reformulated in a process of discussion based on some of the elements of the quasi-empirical method of proofs and refutations. Process steps along with the elements that were method are also described, and how the use of a dynamic geometry software allowed to students the exploration, verification, analysis and explanation of mathematical concepts related to reformulated conjecture. Keywords
