Introducing concepts related to chance and probability in university textbooks
Abstract
In this work, we present a study on the way in which the concepts related to chance and probability are introduced in a sample of 34 university text books. The approach has been centered on certain epistemological and didactic components. The results of the study seem to indicate the absence, in the majority of texts, of certain important aspects of the theoretical frame of mathematics. Finally, these missing aspects might be exploited to come closer to the objective of achieving a significant learning on the part of the students. Keywords
