Scientific quality of thematic content about the structure of matter in General Chemistry university textbooks
Abstract
In this paper we study some concepts and scientific ideas about the structure of matter in General Chemistry textbooks commonly used in Venezuela’s initial university courses, using techniques of content analysis. We have found that the analysed textbooks sometimes show explanations and concepts with a high degree of inaccuracy and imprecision and an inappropriate use of the macroscopic and microscopic levels, which could generate wrong conceptions in the student. Keywords
