Student Participation in the Construction of Didactic Material: Their Conceptions About the Topic Water and Health as a Basis for Preparation of Activities
Abstract
The persistence of the occurrence of infectious diseases related to water is caused by factors such as the lack of a basic sewage system and access to drinking water. The fragmented information associated to health promotion has been considered another important factor related to this issue. School education has been shown to be an important ally in disease prevention. Thus, this article reveals the conceptions of students about the relationship between water and health and proposes a series of activities based on the sixth grade curriculum. The very way in which the activities were conductes has revealed to be a methodological strategy that valued the daily, non scientific language of the students, thus allowing for participation and learning, both essential for the promotion of health. Keywords
