The Earth Charter and Blogs. Two Central Elements in Innovative Teaching Experiencies

Abstract

The following is an innovative teaching experience which was carried out in the fourth grade of a public school. It was implemented in the Environmental Education course which has been taught at the school as an elective course since 1993/94. The project is innovative principally for the following: 1) It uses the Earth Charter text to visualize the interrelations between sustainable development and environmental education; and 2) it includes blogs as methodological instruments used in the course, as these new technology/computer tools are suitable for motivating student implication in their own educational process. The evaluation has permitted the confirmation of the predicted achievements as well as the interesting instrumental possibilities of blog technologies.
