Environmental problems in the media. Proposal for a protocol of analysis for use as a teaching resource

Abstract

This paper presents a protocol to catalogue the treatment of environmental problems by the media. The analysis is carried out from three complementary perspectives: Their degree of relationship with the environmental issue (high, medium or low), content dealt with (causes, consequences, solutions) and scope (general, international, national, regional and local). The study has included 397 cases, in intensive periods of two consecutive years.
