STS relationships in basic science education I: an analysis from textbooks in electronics teaching
Abstract
The paper argues that a suitable electronic literacy, as well as the acquisition of conceptual and procedural contents, should integrate the Science-Technology-Society (STS) approach concerning this topic. This way, students can develop attitudes and capacities that allow them to evaluate critically the consequences -to short and long term- of the use (and abuse) of electronics in the world through that they live. As part of a more wide investigation, the results and conclusions of a descriptive study on CTS approach in electronics education are showed. The study analyses nine technology textbooks of secondary school (level: 14-15 years old). Keywords
