Science Education and the Development of Thinking Skills: A Metacognitive Study with 7th Year Primary Students
Abstract
This paper refers to some research, the main objective of which was to develop and apply new technologies in real classroom practice aimed at promoting pupils’ thinking skills. The empirical part of the research, based on a quasi-experimental design which involved two experimental groups and a control one, was carried out in the field of Natural Sciences in a 7th grade class, for about four months. The results appeared to support our claim that the development of pupils’ cognitive and metacognitive skills by means of adequate science classroom approaches is a feasible goal. Keywords
