Resum

A considerable number of well-known textbooks written in different languages have been examined in connection with the treatment of the molecular velocities. A surprisingly high number of inconsistencies have been disclosed relating to erroneous concepts, incorrect denominations and notation problems. Suggestions are put forward to circumvent such inconsistencies inequivocally.
