A bibliographical revision of those papers which deal specifically with the controversies and problems of construc­tivism in Science Education, has permitted us, to make an overview of the origins, bases and pedagogical proposals of the different ways of understanding constructivism. We then distinguished different levels about of knowledge that sustains or underlies the Science Education. These levels have allowed us to situate the principal constructivist movements, enabling us to then clarify and reflect on the future of Science Education.
