Abstract

This paper presents the importance of the design of curriculum materials for the development of the scientific competence. We must place special emphasis on the need to use an explicit and clearly formulated approach to understand this competence and link tasks and learning activities from this approach. A detailed analysis of the contribution to the development of that competence, from one of the approaches proposed in the literature, is shown for some learning tasks included in a teaching unit on oral health for grade 10 students. Finally, some considerations about the importance of the design and the analysis tasks, and the need to include it in the science teacher training are made.
