Historia del concepto de especie en biología

Abstract

This paper deals with the oldest and most frustrating problem in biology, the species problem. It covers the evolution of the species concept over the last 2300 years, and its many ups and downs from Aristotle's biology till today. The author discusses the role that the modern biological species concept plays in evolutionary biology, and emphasizes its significance in biology teaching.
